Ballistica blasts Triple Crown into new season on a high
THE final Saturday of the racing season saw The Red silks in the winners’ enclosure once more as Ballistica ran riot at Gosford to convincingly defeat her rivals in the Maiden Plate over 1100m.
A filly that has always shown a lot of talent, she was sent off favourite for the Inglis Classic back in February, and started to signs of that talent blossoming when kicking clear in the closing stages to prove far too good for her rivals, on what was just her third career start.
Ballistica brought up an incredible ninth individual winner in just over three weeks for Triple Crown, as the team end a remarkable season on a high.
“She was really good today,” said trainer Bjorn Baker. “The race set up nicely for her and she was able to stand off them and finish off well.
“She showed what she’s been doing at home. It’s good to see her do that but she’s going very well. She’s now a two-year-old winner and has a bright future ahead of her.”
