Ballistica bursts clear for second trial win

SHE caught the eye when showing an electric turn of foot to win a trial at Rosehill on Monday January 22, and two-year-old filly Ballistica was arguably even more impressive here at Gosford on Wednesday when comfortably running away from a talented trial field in a matter of strides.

The Bjorn Baker-trained filly jumped cleanly and travelled behind the speed under Jason Collett, before exploiting a split 100m out to ruthlessly win the trial by one and a half lengths.

By the Champion First-Season Sire and now leading Third-Season Sire Smart Missile, Ballistica is out of New Zealand mare Sagrada, the half-sister to Stakes winner Lucha Libre and from the family of Group 1 winner Ensign Ewart.

Purchased for just $40,000 from the Inglis Classic sale, a sale we have had great success with having purchased the likes of Group 1 winner Peggy Jean, this filly looks to have a bright future ahead of her!
