Chavish Wins On Debut

We were rapt to kick off the New Year with a debut win on Saturday by promising three-year-old gelding Chavish who became our second debut winner in three days following on from the eye catching win of fellow Triple Crown three-year-old Flash Of Innocence on New Years Eve.

Chavish, being sent out for the first ever time following two reasonable trials, recorded a strong win in the Colts, Geldings & Entires Maiden Handicap over 1300m at Kembla Grange.

Ridden by the in-from Mitchell Bell, Chavish trailed the race-leader Sea Sharp until giving chase at the 400m mark which eventually saw the pair break away inside the final 100m to give the connections a thrilling race win when coasting past the post one length clear with his ears pricked.

This race meeting was the second in two weeks of which Peter & Paul Snowden recorded a winning treble at the Illawarra track. Even more impressive is the fact that Snowden Racing recorded six race wins in the first two days of 2016. Well done team!

Chavish is a son of Myboycharlie, a stallion in which we have had a lot of success with. Myboycharlie is the sire of Triple Crown Group winners Peggy Jean (Group 1 Sires Produce) and  Charlie Boy (Group 2 Danehill Stakes). We secured another son of Myboycharlie last year who has been named Chuckles and we’re hoping to secure another son or daughter of the stallion from the 2016 yearling sales. Stay tuned!
