Denpurr takes on Group 3 Ken Russell Memorial

Last start city winner Denpurr (Denman ex Pampurr) steps up to the plate in the Group 3 Ken Russell Memorial Classic at the Gold Coast today. The Triple Crown Syndications filly impressed connections when setting a new Class Record first up at Warwick Farm in March, taking her race record to a win and second placing from only two starts.

Debuting at Royal Randwick in November last year the 2YO filly finished only half a length behind the promising Aegean Sea and took great benefit from an ensuing spell. Improving once again off the back of her first up win, the Triple Crown and Snowden Racing team head to the Sunshine State hopeful of adding some early black type to her page, already littered with champions such as Niagra Falls, Marscay and Subzero, thus confirming her potential as a valuable broodmare following her racing career.

Partnered by Kerrin McEvoy today, Denpurr takes on a quality field of 13 runners on the Good 4 track at the Gold Coast  where she arrived on Thursday and has settled in well. Of her final piece of fast work in Sydney Peter Snowden commented that she was very sharp with McEvoy in the saddle, and although she has drawn awkwardly here today he expects her to be right in the finish providing she gets a little bit of luck in the running. Best of luck to all connections, many of whom have travelled to the Gold Coast to cheer home their girl.
