Dothraki & Charlie Boy Fly The Group Race Flag On Saturday

Tomorrow is an exciting day for Australian racing fans with the first Group 1 race meeting of the Sydney Autumn Carnival taking place at Royal Randwick (Group 1 Chipping Norton Stakes), as well as a big 3 x Group 1 meeting at Caulfield, headlined by the Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes. A very exciting day, especially for those people lucky enough to own shares in a runner!

Triple Crown and Peter and Paul Snowden will be saddling up contenders in two of the big races tomorrow. First cab off the rank will be Group 2 Danehill Stakes winner CHARLIE BOY. He is resuming in the Group 3 Liverpool City Cup over 1300m at Royal Randwick which looks like a great starting point for the talented sprinter ahead of the Autumn Carnival that lays ahead.

He has had two good trials and typically runs well first-up. He has drawn barrier 1, but he’s a horse that generally likes a bit of room to spread his wings so we hope he doesn’t get trapped on the rail. If he doesn’t, we expect a solid performance from him tomorrow with Hugh Bowman in the saddle.

Having put the final polish on DOTHRAKI with a good trial win at Rosehill Gardens recently, we are really looking forward to seeing the flashy chestnut represent his owners in our first Group 1 race of the year, the Group 1 Oakleigh Plate, a race won by SNITZEL, FASTNET ROCK, SCHILLACI, WEEKEND HUSSLER and STARSPANGLEDBANNER in past years, with $500,000 in prizemoney up for grabs. Of course, we drew the outside gate (21) however this may work to our advantage and allow us to sit back and wait while the on-speed horses fight for the lead – we can only hope!

In his last preparation, DOTHRAKI won the Listed Lightening Stakes when resuming first-up. We have our fingers (toes, arms, legs) crossed for a repeat performance come Saturday with Steven Arnold in the saddle.

Good luck to all connections!
