Dual trial winner Misteed set for debut

TWO-YEAR-OLD Exceed And Excel filly Misteed has shown plenty of ability in two trials wins and makes her eagerly anticipated debut at Canterbury this evening.

The $150,000 Magic Millions purchase made improved strides forward from her initial trial win at Randwick on December 11, where she worked late between horses to claim victory, to her most recent trial win at Rosehill on December 22, where she was impressive in putting a length and a quarter into the field on the bridle.

She lines up in Race 3 at Friday’s night meeting, the 1100m 2YO Maiden Handicap for fillies, and trainer Peter Snowden is predicting a bright future ahead.

“Her two trials have been quite solid and she’s shown plenty of ability at home,” said Snowden.

“We’re really happy with her and she’s drawn a nice gate for the race where she should get a good run.

“Off her work and the evidence in the trials we’re hopeful of seeing a forward showing from her tonight.”

Elsewhere on the card and last time out winner Wooshka bids to follow up in Race 1, the 3YO fillies BenchMark 73 Handicap over 1250m, where the daughter of Written Tycoon faces just the three rivals.

“She’s trained on nicely from her win which was on the same track and distance as this race,” said Snowden. “It looks a good opportunity for her with plenty in her favour and we’ll look for her to be very competitive tonight.”
