Hot Snitzel leads nominations for Wagga Town Plate

Boosting the prizemoney for Town Plate has already started to pay off for Murrumbidgee Turf Club after Hot Snitzel was nominated for the feature by Peter and Paul Snowden.

Group One placed Hot Snitzel was given 62 kilograms when the weights were released yesterday, and while he’s unlikely to run the likes of Peter Moody, Gai Waterhouse and Joe Pride all have horses nominated among the 30 entries.

The Town Plate prizemoney has almost tripled since 2012, with this year’s race increasing by $15,000 from 2014 to $100,000.

MTC chief executive Scott Sanbrook believes the increase is making waves with some of the biggest racing stables entering horses.

“To have a headline horse such as Hot Snitzel who has won over $900,000 in prizemoney at the top of the weights is a great boost for the race,” Sanbrook said.

“It’s a race we’ve really focused on strengthening and we are confident the prizemoney increase will be reflected in the class of the field.”
