Sixth Stakes Win for Hot Snitzel

Hot Snitzel continued the winning run of trainer Gerald Ryan and Triple Crown Syndications with a brave victory in Saturday’s Group II Hall Mark Stakes (1200m) at Randwick.

Ryan and Triple Crown combined to win the $1 million Group 1 ATC Sires Produce Stakes last week with Peggy Jean.

Hot Snitzel
has raced in stakes company in his past 25 starts. His previous win had come over 12 months ago in the Group III Sebring Stakes. The 5yo gelding repelled the challenge of the heavily backed favourite Knoydart (More Than Ready) to win by one and a quarter lengths with Aeronautical (Encosta de Lago) the same distance back in third.

The son of Snitzel also owns victories in the Group II QTC Sires’ Produce Stakes, Group II Royal Sovereign Stakes and a pair of Listed races.

His overall record stands at 7 wins, 5 seconds and 2 thirds from 27 starts for earnings of $885,350.

“He has been a great little horse, he is just a bit under the top ones,” Ryan said.

“He ran in the Golden Slipper three years ago and he is the only one out of that whole field who is still racing. He is a good little horse who always gives his best.”

“He’ll head up to Queensland, he’s going to go to the BTC Cup. He’s probably going to have to go to the weight-for-age races because he’s going to start getting hammered with weight.

Winning rider Hugh Bowman said it was a pleasure to ride the chestnut.

“He’s the type of horse that’s a good advertisement for anyone that want’s to own a horse,” Bowman said.

“He just keeps coming back and getting the job done.
