Stylish Steyne takes emphatic Kembla win
THE result was never in doubt, or at least it wasn’t in the mind of Steyne, as he ran out an authoritative winner stepping up to a mile at Kembla Grange on Friday night.
Barrier 13 proved no obstacle to the four-year-old – neither running six-wide at the bend – and the son of Snitzel cruised up to the leaders entering the straight having made eyecatching progress around the bend under a motionless Blake Shinn.
After hitting the front at the 200, Steyne lengthened clear of the pack to win in style, proving a class above his 13 opponents.
Steyne has relished the opportunity to show the racing world what he’s got after an interrupted start to his career. This win on his final run of the preparation represented his second success and the lightly-raced gelding has bags of potential to make a further impression when he returns.
The success of Steyne is testament to the ability of Peter & Paul Snowden to nurture him to not only a return to the racecourse, but a dual-winning return, and we thank all their efforts in preparing this horse to two victories and a mightily unlucky second this preparation.
Congratulations to the owners as your unwavering patience has been rewarded, and we hope you have enjoyed the experience as much as we have delighted in seeing his successful return!
Steyne will now head to the paddock for a well-earned two-week rest before tackling further riches on his return.
Peter Snowden said: “Another good win and a big effort by the horse. Well done to all. There’s definitely a future for him and I’m sure he’s going to reward us further on track.”
