Scissor Kick ex Miss Mushu Filly

Horse Details

  • Outstanding filly by exciting first-season sire, SCISSOR KICK and a ½ sister to 5-time winner & Group placed sprinter/miler HIGH MIST.
  • “This filly looks an early runner and she is from a consistent, stakes winning family. What’s more, she’s bred on the hugely successful DANEHILL / ENCOSTA DE LAGO cross.” Michael Ward
  • SCISSOR KICK (by REDOUTE’S CHOICE) was an outstanding performer, winning at 2, capturing a Group race at 3 and an unlucky 2nd by a head in the Group 1 Golden Rose Stakes (after being trapped 3-wide the entire journey), the ‘sire-making’ race.
  • The filly’s ½ brother won 5 races from 1150m to 1600m – including 1 at 2 – and would also finish 2nd behind Group 1 horse SWEAR in the Ming Dynasty. Her granddam is the multiple Group winner and successful broodmare LADY MULAN.
  • Selected by Triple Crown’s Chris & Michael Ward.

To be trained by world renowned pair of Peter and Paul Snowden, trainers of Triple Crown’s 2017 ($10 million) and 2018 ($13 million) The Everest winner REDZEL and 2016 Golden Slipper winner CAPITALIST. A filly by multiple Group winning first season sire in SCISSOR KICK … a ½ sister to a top notch sprinter/miler … great family … terrific type. This filly really does have all the attributes to make a top-class racehorse.

As far as we were concerned, this yearling really was the stand out filly at the Sydney Classic: she certainly looks to be an early runner and is very fluent mover.

We loved SCISSOR KICK when he was racing – he was always racing at the elite level, winning two Group races and very unlucky to have not won the ‘sire making’ Group 1 Golden Rose where he was beaten a head. Not surprisingly, he was supported strongly by the breeders with a tremendous book of mares with this filly’s dam among them.

MISS MISHU is by ENCOSTA DE LAGO, which brings in that hugely successful cross with DANEHILL, while the mare herself is a daughter of multiple Group winner & multiple Group 1 placed LADY MULAN.

MISS MISHU’s only runner to date is the top notch sprinter/miler HIGH MIST and it’s worth noting that the first 3 dams have produced 13 winners between them, from 15 to race!

A rockstar, Group winning son of perennial Champion Sire and Sire of Sires REDOUTE’S CHOICE from one of the best families in the world!

The strikingly handsome and very fast SCISSOR KICK is poised to join other successful Redoute’s Choice sons at stud including another Champion Sire in SNITZEL and NOT A SINGLE DOUBT (both stablemates at Arrowfield Stud), while the exciting first season sire hails from the stallion-producing female family of DANEHILL’s champion European son DANSILI, the sire of over 100 stakes winners and 19 Group 1 winners.

And it’s not just about pedigree! An impressive 2YO winner, SCISSOR KICK’s spring campaign established him among Australia’s best 3YO colts, winning the Listed Rosebud Handicap, then the Group 3 Up And Coming Stakes before being a moral beaten, at only his 5th start, when a photo finish second to HALLOWED CROWN in the Group 1 Golden Rose Stakes after having no luck in running. “He’s a real fighter, best horse in the race,” jockey Tye Angland said after the race.

SCISSOR KICK’s autumn 3YO campaign began with success in the Group 3 Eskimo Prince Stakes, beating subsequent Group 1 winner DELECTATION, before joining DISSIDENT, WANDJINA and CHAUTAUQUA to complete the top 4 in the Group 1 All Aged Stakes … rated Australia’s best 1400m race in years.

SCISSOR KICK descends from a spectacular female family rich in international Group 1 winners, closely related to Champion 2YO Colt and multiple Group 1 winner THREE VALLEYS, while his 2nd dam is a ½ sister to HASILI, the dam of 5 Group 1 winners – four of them Champions and all by Redoute’s Choice’s sire DANEHILL!

Just imagine the residual value for this filly if she is successful on the racetrack like we anticipate!

Difficult to know where to start with MISS MUSHU.

First off, she is by probably the most influential broodmare sire in Australia in ENCOSTA DE LAGO, whose daughters have produced no less than 91 stakes winners including racetrack heroes such as HAPPY CLAPPER, IMPENDING, JAPONISME, SOFIA ROSA, THE QUARTERBACK, PEEPING, DIVINE PROPHET, INVADER and MIGHTY BOSS (all Group 1 winners).

To drill down even further, this DANEHILL (sireline of SCISSOR KICK) / ENCOSTA DE LAGO ‘nick’ is specifically responsible for JAPONISME, MUSIR, DIVINE PROPHET, SUMMER PASSAGE, INVADER, PEEPING and MIGHTY BOSS.

Even more importantly, MISS MUSHU’s only foal to race so far – HIGH MIST – was bred by Ingham Racing and has won 5 races and also finished a ½ length second to SWEAR in the Group 3 Ming Dynasty Stakes at Randwick (SWEAR would go on to finish 2nd in the Group 1 Spring Champion Stakes behind Yankee Rose).

Prizemoney opportunities like never before. . .

Please note that this outstanding colt is eligible and suited to target the following races:

  • $3,500,000 Golden Slipper (already nominated)
  • $2,000,000 Inglis Millennium (already nominated)

In 2017/18, there was $733,445,379 distributed in prizemoney throughout Australia with stakes increasing by 92% in the last 10 years: the highest of any racing nation in the world.
