Almost A Double at The Farm for Triple Crown

Triple Crown’s red and white silks featured at Warwick Farm on Wednesday with two from two runners producing excellent efforts on the Heavy track.

2YO colt Brazen Moss (Mossman ex Hussyanna) resumed for his second career start in the 1100m Get Racy Handicap with a fast closing second place, proving the ground to be no obstacle. Ridden by Brenton Avdulla, the Gerald Ryan trained colt jumped awkwardly before travelling toward the tail of the field, however produced an exceptional final 100m to finish behind impressive Darley filly, Shaumari. The ¾ brother to sprinting sensation Buffering looks to be suited over further ground than his brother and will most likely step up in distance at his next start. His syndicate of owners includes retail tycoon Gerry Harvey, and he was a $75,000 purchase by Chris and Michael Ward from the Magic Millions National Yearling Sale last year.

4YO Snitzel mare Centrepet (Snitzel ex Miss Rainmaker) went one better later in the afternoon with a thrilling win in the 1300m Testa Rossa @ Vinery Handicap. Stepping up in trip for the first time and carrying 3.5kg more than her closest rival on the heavy track, she fought tooth and nail to the finish line with a top ride from Avdulla to take home the winning honours and increase her career earnings to $184,615. Centrepet was a $72,500 purchase by Chris and Michael from the Inglis Scone Yearling Sale and is trained by Ryan who not only trained her sire, but also her mother and half-brother.
