Back To Back Winning Double for Triple Crown

Triple Crown took out not only a winning double, but back to back wins, with Seritza in the third and Crown of Ascot in the fourth race at Gosford today.

Sent out at short odds in the betting market Seritza (Sebring ex Starlevie) was searching for a win following four consecutive very close second placing’s this preparation.  Ridden by Jason Collett the ultra-consistent Sebring filly jumped well and had an easy run before putting in a gutsy effort down the straight to claim victory.

“She’s been a very good, consistent filly but was just laying out in the straight which was costing her races, especially when coming second by very short margins to some good runners” trainer Gerald Ryan commented.

A gear change by Ryan saw Seritza sporting a one eyed blinker for the first time today which prevented her from laying out and gave her the winning edge she needed.

There was barely time to enjoy the Champagne before Triple Crown’s second runner of the day, Crown of Ascot (Flying Spur ex Detail), lined up with Tim Clark on board in the fourth. Joe Pride has done an excellent job with this gelding and he too put in a brave performance, despite the scorching temperature on course, to take out the Gosford Quarries Class 2 Handicap over 1200m and notch up his second win of the preparation.
