Ballistica salutes the New Year with a bang
BALLISTICA flashed home at Gosford to win the BenchMark 64 Handicap over 1200m and ending a sensational year on a winning note for Triple Crown Syndications and our owners.
The three-year-old filly struck at the same track for her maiden victory in the final days of last season, and she found form once more on the final day of the calendar year.
Trained by Bjorn Baker, the filly by Smart Missile was purchased by Chris and Michael Ward of Triple Crown for just $40,000 at the Inglis Classic Sale in 2017, and her second career victory saw her prizemoney earned soar to $42,395.
After getting away fairly into stride, Ballistica found herself three wide for the majority of the trip, with jockey Corey Brown starting his run on the filly before the home turn. After balancing up Ballistica let down strongly, picking up the leader Rogue Runner on the post.
Trainer Bjorn Baker was pleased how Ballistica saluted the hard way on the Central Coast. “It was a good effort from the filly,” said Baker. “To be three deep and win regardless is a really good effort.
“We’ll make she comes through the run well and she has plenty of options going forward.
“She’s a nice filly and one we can have plenty more fun with in 2019.”
