Big Bad Bruce wins again at Doomben!

BIG BAD BRUCE continued his excellent run of form with a third win of the preparation at Doomben on Saturday 2 October.

The ultra-progressive son of Not A Single Doubt was given a peach of a ride by Steph Thornton on his way to an emphatic three-and-a-quarter length success, which was his first at Saturday metropolitan level.

Big Bad Bruce began well from his wide barrier and Steph played the patient game in the early stages, before letting him slide forward to lead when the pace began to slow. He relaxed beautifully on the front end and it was a one act affair from the top of the straight, with Big Bad Bruce showing an impressive turn of foot to scoot clear of his rivals over the concluding stages.

“That was a good win and he added another string to his bow today,” a delighted Tony Gollan said in his post-race report.

“He went to the front for Steph Thornton and she rode him really well. The further they went down the straight the further he went away from them.

“He loves that bit of cut in the ground and he loves Doomben. We’ll give him another run in three weeks and then we’ll give this horse a break, but he’s pulled up well and is doing a terrific job.”

Big Bad Bruce will now try to add to the $91,650 in prizemoney he has already banked his owners this preparation when he heads to Doomben on Saturday 23 October. Fingers crossed he can repeat his last start heroics over the same course and distance!

Congratulations to the team at Gollan Racing, who have him racing in terrific order, and all his owners.
