The Championships Beckons
Having won the first ever Championships race in 2014 with Peggy Jean saluting in the Group 1 Sires’ Produce Stakes, the Championships has always been a very exciting time for the team at Triple Crown.
Not only have we had good results there but is it a fantastic, glamourous day of high prizemoney racing at Royal Randwick – how can you improve on that?!
With having runners, that’s how!
Lining up for us this Saturday on Championships Day 1 in the Group 1 TJ Smith (worth $2,500,000 in prizemoney) is speedy Triple Crown five-year-old sprinter Dothraki.
A dual group race winner, this preparation has already been particularly exciting for team Triple Crown and his owners. Dothraki lined up for his first-up run down south in Melbourne in the Group 1 Oakleigh Plate where he ran a very good race from the widest barrier, finishing just over two lengths from the winner. He was then sent out closer to home, at Rosehill Gardens on Golden Slipper Day, where he ran a very thrilling third in Group 1 Galaxy! It was a brilliant effort from the tough horse. If Dothraki’s results in the lead up to this Saturday are anything to go by, we’re in for a thrilling race and have everything crossed for a top five finish!
Also racing on Saturday at Royal Randwick is three-year-old filly Denpurr. She is lining up for her second-up start in the Group 3 PJ Bell Stakes over 1200m. Unfortunately, she’s drawn rather awkwardly (again) with barrier 13 however the stakes placed filly has a tonne of talent and if she gets some luck from the gate, she could be the one flying home late down the outside. She’ll be stepping up to 1400m in her start after this one, which we know she will appreciate even more, so fun times ahead!
The Triple Crown team will also be represented by El Sasso in race 5 at Doomben and Saint Cheval in race 8 at Kembla Grange. Both have the ability to be in the mix come the finish line so fingers crossed. Best of luck to all of our owners on a big and exciting day of racing.
