Dothraki among Everest emergency runners
DOTHRAKI has been named as one of the emergency runners for the $13 Million The Everest with the eight-year-old set to accept for the $500,000 Sydney Stakes at Royal Randwick on Saturday.
The acceptances for the World’s richest race on turf were published on Tuesday morning, where the 12 slot holders put forward their contenders for The Everest. The emergencies are made up of six runners from the Group 3 Sydney Stakes, with Dothraki named among them.
A recent winner of the Group 2 Bobbie Lewis at Flemington on September 15, Dothraki finished fifth in the Gilgai Stakes on Saturday, and trainers Peter & Paul Snowden have given the intention to back up the $1.4 million earner on the biggest raceday of the Everest Carnival.
Dothraki has been in career best form in 2018, adding a win in the Group 3 Maurice McCarten to his victory at Flemington three weeks ago.
Co-trainer Peter Snowden says the son of Mossman has come through the Gilgai well and is in good form ahead of the 1200m race.
“He’s come through his run well from Saturday,” said Snowden. “We’ll accept with him on Saturday as he’s pulled up so well.
“The prospect of a soft track certainly enhances his chances. He’s met most of these horses before and been competitive, so he certainly won’t be out of place on Saturday.”
