El Roca adds further black type to Triple Crown family

Promising 3YO colt El Roca (Fastnet Rock ex Rubimill) won the $125,000 Listed Eskimo Prince Stakes (1200m) at Rosehill Gardens on Saturday, taking his record to 3 wins (including the Listed Westbury Stud Challenge Stakes) and 1 placing (the Gr3 Caulfield Guineas Prelude) from only 5 starts for $162,577 earnings.

Trained by New Zealand based Trent Busuttin the colt defeated seasoned Group 1 performers Dissident and Romantic Touch by 2 lengths in the 1200m sprint, and although the $3million Group 1 ATC Doncaster is on the cards for this talented youngster, the next immediate goal for him will be the Group 1 ATC Randwick Guineas against his own age group.

El Roca is from the unraced Rubiton mare Rubimill, a full-sister to Group 3 Sweet Embrace Stakes winner & Golden Slipper placegetter Millrich.Millrich, in turn, is the dam of sire Danerich, and also one of Triple Crown’s recent yearling purchases by leading sire Snitzel.

Triple Crown’s
2012 Snitzel ex Millrich colt is a standoubt in terms of both pedigree and conformation, and will be trained by astute two year old trainer Gerald Ryan. With the dam side of the family firing, as well as the colt’s trainer and sire scoring Group 1 victory with Snitzerland in the Gr. 1 Black Caviar Lightning Stakes at Flemington on Saturday, this colt is a very exciting prospect to target the early 2014 two year old races with and the Triple Crown team can’t wait to see him in action.
