Golden gate for Symphony in Rose

By Brad Bishop

In-form Peter Moody-trained colt Gold Symphony will fly the Victorian flag in Saturday’s Golden Rose at Rosehill in Sydney.

The in-form speedster is the lone Victorian-trained runner in the $1 million event, which attracted a field of nine when acceptances were taken on Tuesday morning.

The son of Reward For Effort, who has won the Group 3 Vain Stakes and Group 3 McNeil Stakes at his only starts this season, came up with the inside gate at the barrier draw.

A $26 chance in CrownBet’s Golden Rose market, he will start to the immediate inside of $3 favourite Exosphere with $3.60 second elect Press Statement to start from gate three.

Last week’s Furious Stakes winner, the Gai Waterhouse-trained Speak Fondly ($4.80), will start from barrier four.

Speak Fondly is the lone filly in a field that also includes Exosphere’s John O’Shea-trained stablemates Holler and Shards – who drew gates five and six respectively – Rageese (nine), Sebring Sun (seven) and Let’s Make It Rain (eight).
