The unstoppable Blake Shinn produced another superlative ride to earn his fifth stakes win and second Group 1 win of the day when the Snitzel gelding Hot Snitzel claimed the $500,000 Group I BTC Cup (1200m) at Doomben.

It also completed a great day for the emerging partnership of Triple Crown Syndications and Peter and Paul Snowden who had success earlier in the day with Charlie Boy in the Group III BRC Sprint.

Settled just off the speed set by Our Boy Malachi, Hot Snitzel came clear to score by three-quarters of a length over Godolphin’s fast-finishing Knoydart (More Than Ready) with Our Boy Malachi (Top Echelon) a short neck back in third.

The 6yo gelding becomes Australia’s latest equine millionaire with a record of 8 wins, 5 seconds and 3 thirds from 34 starts for earnings of $1,227,350.

“When you’re hot you’re hot it’s really a true saying,” Shinn said.

“I really didn’t think we could win this race, neither did Peter.

“It’s amazing Peter’s turned him around to win a Group 1. My first Group 1 for the stable.”

Peter Snowden paid tribute to Gerald Ryan, the former trainer of Hot Snitzel and Charlie Boy.

“They came to me in perfect order,” he said.

“He’d (Hot Snitzel) had a couple of runs. He was rock-hard fit and probably the time between runs, freshen him right up a bit and had him at his best today.

“You couldn’t ride that any better. It was a 50 out of 10 ride.”

Like Charlie Boy Hot Snitzel was breaking a long run of outs.

His previous win was over a year ago in the Group III Hall Mark Stakes at Randwick.

Hot Snitzel was a $60,000 purchase for Triple Crown Syndications from the draft of Bellerive Stud at the 2010 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale.

He is the ninth foal of the unraced Blushing Groom mare, Flames Of Paris (USA), a half-sister to Irish Oaks (G1) winner Alydaress, Moyglare Stakes (G1) winner Park Appeal, and Cheveley Park Stakes (G1) winner Desirable.

Another half-sister Balistroika produced the 1000 Guineas (G1) heroine Russian Rhythm while Park Appeal is the dam of Group 1 winner and successful sire Cape Cross and the granddam of young stallion Iffraaj.

Desirable is the dam of 1000 Guineas (G1) winner in Shadayid.

Hot Snitzel is the final foal of the pensioned Flames Of Paris (USA) and the sixth Group 1 winner for Arrowfield Stud’s Snitzel.
