Triple Crown Syndications may have another group 1 winner by the end of the weekend, but they’ve retired a previous major victor with Peggy Jean set for stud duties this season.

“She picked up a bit of an injury so we decided to call it quits and send her to the breeding barn this year,” said Triple Crown’s Chris Ward.

“We intended to race her this spring, but now we’ve got to move quickly.”

A decision on who will cover Peggy Jean is expected to be made within the next few days. The filly won the Sires Produce Stakes as a two-year-old under the care of Gerald Ryan and retires with more than $920,000 in career earnings.
