Hucklebuck on Group 1 Australian Guineas trail following Group 3 CS Hayes Stakes win

Jockey Dominic Tourneur provided Elvstroem colt, Hucklebuck, with every opportunity at Flemington on Saturday to gain an impressive win in the $150,000 Group 3 CS Hayes Stakes over 1400m.

The highly talented Hucklebuck took his record to 5 wins (including the Listed Gothic Stakes) and 2 placings (including the Gr2 Carbine Club Stakes) from 7 starts for $278,200 earnings.

Trained by Phillip Stokes at Morphettivlle, Hucklebuck will now be aimed at next month’s Group 1 Australian Guineas.

Hucklebuck is the older half-brother of Triple Crown 2YO Courtza King, who is trained by leading Melbourne trainer Peter Moody. Courtza King is by the ill-fated Australian Champion First Season Sire of 2012-13, Northern Meteor, and is an impressive and powerful colt with a lovely action. Currently in pre-training and gearing up to return to Peter’s Caulfield stable, the Triple Crown team is looking forward to Courtza King’s debut on race day and is hopeful he will emulate the talent of his exciting older brother.
