Invincible Lad marches his way to ANZAC Day win

INVINCIBLE LAD produced a stunning second-up performance to provide his owners with a poignant ANZAC Day victory at Gosford on Sunday.

The son of I Am Invincible made nearly every yard a winning one, amassing a four-length lead in the middle stages which ultimately proved insurmountable.

It was a beautifully-rated ride from Brandon Griffiths, who allowed Invincible Lad to roll forward in the early stages and the pair found themselves in a lovely rhythm at the head of affairs.

Having established a near five length lead in the run to the bend, it was an easy watch for Invincible Lad’s owners in the straight as the talented speedster maintained his early gallop to score comfortably by a length.

The victory came as a pleasant surprise to trainers Peter & Paul Snowden, who expected Invincible Lad to need the run based on how his previous preparations have unfolded.

“I’m happy to be wrong, that was a good result,” quipped Peter Snowden in his post-race report.

“Our thoughts were to try and take a sit again and see if we can get him to settle, but he pulled his way to the front and Brandon did a good job just letting him stride a bit, rather than fighting him.

“The more you fight him the more it upsets him, he sort of relaxes in his own time. He’s a funny sort of horse, he likes to do his own thing all the time.

“It’s good to see him get a win early this preparation as we know he’s going to get better further on.

“He always improves after his second and third runs, so I’m expecting him to come on again from this win.

“We got a win, that’s the most important thing and we’ll take them any day of the week.”

As Peter Snowden said, it was a cracking result to get Invincible Lad’s head in front so early in the preparation and hopefully there is plenty more to come in the few months.

Congratulations to his strapper Ella and all Invincible Lad’s owners on a terrific win!
