Jericho All The Rave
All attention turns to Triple Crown’s most promising two-year-old tomorrow, Jericho, who lines up in the $100,000 Listed Hampden Stakes (1200m) at Doomben as we get underway with week two of the Brisbane Winter Carnival.
To be partnered by Blake Shinn again, Jericho firmed in the betting market this week to second favourite behind Archives, showing that punters have growing confidence in the naturally talented youngster.
Co-trainer Paul Snowden said the colt put in an impressive track work gallop on Tuesday before arriving safe and sound in Queensland to father Peter, who’s been overseeing the Brisbane squad this week.
“He worked very well at home on Tuesday so we’re all systems go for Saturday.
“Barrier 10 is probably not ideal but he should have enough speed to get in with a position. All going well we should be seeing him hit the line well,” said Snowden.
The promising son of Smart Missile who’s now one win and a fourth (to Group 1 Sires Produce winner Yankee Rose on debut) from just two career starts, had his form franked even further this week when the Bjorn Baker-trained Cadogan, whom Jericho beat last time out by 1 length, won Wednesday’s $40,000 2YO Handicap (1400m) at Randwick.
A $180,000 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale purchase, Jericho is by one of Australia’s hottest young sires at the moment in Smart Missile.
Triple Crown currently have shares available in another promising son by Smart Missile, so please contact the team before he sells out!
