Kentucky Fireball’s convincing Melbourne Cup Day Victory

Kentucky Fireball (Northern Meteor ex Lady Gretchen) secured another win on Tuesday, this time convincingly at Canberra with a start to finish lead for trainer Nick Olive and Triple Crown Syndications.

Heading straight to the lead from the gates, as per pre-race instructions, jockey Michael Travers settled Kentucky Fireball into a comfortable rhythm and dictated the pace favourably, enabling the son of Northern Meteor to translate impressive track work to race day performance with a commanding 2 length victory.

Adding further prizemoney of $10,000 to the kitty for his Triple Crownowners, and another win under his belt, Kentucky Fireball also provided a special experience for his owners to win on Melbourne Cup day.

Olive was delighted with the win, as was Travers who commented “Kentucky Fireball found all the way to the line”.

Further merit can be attributed to the run with Kentucky Fireball entitled carry 53kg for the race based on his benchmark rating, however lining up with 54kg on his back under the race conditions, so a very pleasing effort and fantastic result for all connections.

Olive will consolidate the win with another 1200m race in the coming weeks, and the Triple Crown team is looking forward to another bold showing from the 4 year old.

Congratulations to all connections!
