Misteed chases early black type in Group 3 Widden Stakes
TWO-YEAR-OLD filly Misteed will line up in the Group 3 Widden Stakes over 1100m at Rosehill on Saturday, as she bids for some early back type success.
The filly by Exceed And Excel has been unfortunate in two defeats at Canterbury to date when short for room, but has been given a crack at Group 3 level by trainers Peter & Paul Snowden.
She faces 12 rivals and has a favourable draw in six, with Winona Costin taking the ride.
Co-trainer Peter Snowden reports that she’s been working nicely since her last run on January 19, and will have every chance on Saturday.
“She’s done everything right since her race at Canterbury,” said Snowden. “I’ve been more than happy with the way she’s worked and she looks great still.
“We’re under no illusions that this is a tough race and a big step up from Canterbury. She’s done excellently well this preparation and has been unfortunate not to get a win.
“Hopefully she’ll get her chance on Saturday to show her best and if that’s the case I’m sure she’ll run well.”
