Moss Trip seeks another ripping run
MOSS TRIP is a horse in flying form after heading north to Brisbane to contest the Group 2 Dane Ripper Stakes with wins in the Group 3 James Carr Stakes and Listed Inglis Guineas already in the trophy cabinet.
A good showing here will pave the way for a tilt at the Group 1 Tatts Tiara later this month, but Saturday’s Group 2 assignment will be her toughest task in her career to date.
She faces 15 rivals but will have to negotiate a route from Barrier 15 with Brenton Avdulla on board over the 1350m trip.
Her usual band of owners will be making the trip to Queensland, with the $32,000 yearling putting a useful record together with five wins from ten starts, and victory on Saturday will take her through the $500,000 mark in prizemoney.
Co-trainer Peter Snowden says she’s arrived in Brisbane well, and is in good form ahead of the race.
“She’s come through her last run extremely well and worked very strongly before making the trip to Brisbane,” said Snowden. “She’s going up there in great order.”
Moss Trip won a trial at Randwick heading into this, and Snowden could look to keep her in Brisbane for the Group 1 Tatts Tiara on June 23.
“Her trial was excellent and she continues to handle everything extremely well. If she measures up in the Dane Ripper we will think about going to the Tatts Tiara.”
