Progeny of Maurice and Extreme Choice impress at first trials
Exciting first-season sires Maurice and Extreme Choice struck early blows at Randwick’s first two-year-old trials of the new season yesterday.
Maurice was first on the scoresheet when I Love Lucy won heat 10, before another promising runner by the six-time Group 1 winner, Maurice’s Medad, finished runner-up in the second and final two-year-old trial of the morning.
That heat was won by Avaricious, a daughter of Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes winner Extreme Choice, who is the sire of Triple Crown’s Choix De La Mer.
Maurice, who currently tops the Japanese first season sire standings by prizemoney, is the sire of three Triple Crown two-year-olds – Daichi, Mazu and Saiko.
All four of the Triple Crown juveniles mentioned above have joined the stable of Peter & Paul Snowden, who ended last season as the winning-most trainers of two-year-olds in the country.
Currently at various stages of their development, we look forward to watching their progress closely over the coming weeks and months!
