Quinella the Goal for Listed Gosford Guineas
Last start winners for the Triple Crown and Peter and Paul Snowden partnership, Redzel and Brigadoon Rise will be heading north to Gosford on Thursday to contest the feature race of the day, the $150,000 Listed Gosford Guineas.
Redzel (pictured above) is coming off the back of a well-deserved and very exciting win at Royal Randwick in the Listed Fireball Stakes over 1100m. He has always been a promising horse but it’s taken a couple of preparations to work him and his preferred racing style out – letting him use his blistering speed to lead early, giving his opponents a lot of work to do early, is his go! His results so far this preparation consists of a second, another second and a win and we’re hoping the top two results keep rolling in.
After a long spell following her maiden win as a two year-old, Brigadoon Rise (pictured below) resumed a fortnight ago at Warwick Farm in a BenchMark 67 over 1200m. Enjoying a cosy run on the rail from barrier one, Brigadoon Rise shot through the inside to clinch victory defeating To Be Sure and Chetwood (both lining up in the Gosford Guineas tomorrow) to win paying $28!
Both horses have very different racing styles, Redzel preferring to lead and Brigadoon Rise doing her best work late, but both are coming off excellent wins and we’re particularly excited to see how 2016’s Gosford Guineas pans out. Tommy Berry will be legged aboard Redzel and regular jockey Kerrin McEvoy will take the ride on Brigadoon Rise, leaving from barrier’s 8 and 5 respectively.
Best of luck to all connections! Would a winning dead heat between the pair be too much to ask for?
