Peter Snowden has found the horse he believes is capable of defending his Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes crown.

Stunning colt, Pride of Dubai, who debuted with an eye-catching third behind current Golden Slipper favourite Ottoman at Rosehill on Saturday, will target the Group I juvenile event at Caulfield to be run on February 28.

Pride Of Dubai is a home bred by Street Cry, and cut an imposing figure when parading prior to the first race.

Copping a bump at the start, then racing greenly into the straight, he has scope for improvement and the Snowden stable have plenty of confidence in him.

“He is an excellent colt, I really like him” Peter Snowden said. “And he’s got the right attitude.

“Laid back, produced a very good run and will benefit greatly from that.”

Snowden will give Pride Of Dubai a short break before targeting the Blue Diamond.

“I’ve tipped him out for a short break then the plan is to give him one trial, find a lead-up race in Melbourne, then straight into the Blue Diamond,” Snowden said.

Snowden has trained two of the past three Blue Diamond winners, Earthquake winning this year’s edition and Sepoy winning in 2011.

This will be the first attempt as a training duo, now partnered by his son Paul Snowden.
