THE HORSE

There was just so much to like about this colt even before we inspected him and, best of all, his athleticism matched the pedigree page.

Firstly, this colt is bred on a proven cross – his sire, FLYING ARTIE, is a first season stallion, but the highly accomplished grandsire, ARTIE SCHILLER, has already produced a Group winner in South Africa – OUR MATE ART – from a ½ sister to the dam of this colt.

What’s more, Artie Schiller ‘over’ mares by Encosta de Lago (the sire of our colt’s damsire, Manhattan Rain), boasts a 100% strike rate … 6 winners from 6 runners.

Importantly, this is an exceptional colt and he’s the spitting image of his sire at the same age. FLYING ARTIE of course was a Group winning, multiple Group 1 placed 2YO who went on to become World Champion 3YO Sprinter after capturing the ‘sire-making’ Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes.

As for the dam side of the pedigree, the colt is also closely related to Champion 2YO Colt and successful sire AD VALOREM, whose success stories in Australia include Group 1 winning 2YO CAPITAL GAIN.

FLYING ARTIE

What a truly exciting stallion prospect FLYING ARTIE is!

First off, he’s producing tremendous athletes, of which this colt is a perfect example.

What’s more, as a racehorse, Flying Artie did everything that is considered the ideal for a stallion standing in Australia … he won the Group 3 Blue Diamond Prelude (defeating multiple Group winner & sire, Star Turn) before running 2nd to Extreme Choice (another sire) in a very slick Group 1 Blue Diamond, having encountered severe interference on the turn. He then finished 3rd to Capitalist (yes, another sire!) in the Group 1 Golden Slipper.

Resuming as a 3YO, Flying Artie won the Group 3 Blue Sapphire and then capped off his remarkable career with a brilliant victory in the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes … scoring comfortably against the likes of Astern, Star Turn, Russian Revolution and Extreme Choice.

The Coolmore is regarded as Australia’s ‘stallion making’ race and Flying Artie was rated the best 3YO sprinter in the world. He topped the Timeform rankings and was crowned Champion 3YO Colt in what was a truly remarkable crop of 3YOs.

The best son of ARTIE SCHILLER in Australia, Flying Artie’s sire has produced 51 stakes winners world-wide of over $70 million, while Flying Artie is from the stakes winner and multiple Group placed sprinter/miler, FLYING RUBY – in turn a daughter of the ½ sister to the legendary BETTER LOOSEN UP.

EN WHY SEA DREAM

This colt is by an exciting first season sire, and just a quick scan of the pedigree reveals the mating to be a ‘proven’ cross. How so?

Well, for starters, the colt’s dam – the Manhattan Rain mare En Why Sea Dream – is a ½ sister to the outstanding South African sprinter OUR MATE ART, a son of Flying Artie’s sire ARTIE SCHILLER – winner of the Group 1 Breeders’ Cup Mile and sire of 51 stakes winners.

What’s more, a match up with Artie Schiller to ENCOSTA DE LAGO mares has produced 6 winners from 6 to race including Megamind (11 wins) and Caulfield Inglis Cup winner Wheal Leisure.

As for Our Mate Art, he was multiple Group placed at 2 and 3 before deservedly capturing the Group 3 Matchem Stakes at Durbanville. Just like this colt, Our Mate Art made a huge impression at the sales, becoming the most expensive Artie Schiller sold in 2015.

Only the 2nd foal of En Why Sea Dream, it’s worth noting that the next 3 dams have produced 16 winners between them, with the 2nd dam – Laureldean Dream – a ½ sister to four stakes performers including Champion 2YO Colt and proven stallion AD VALOREM (sire of 2017 Group 1 winning 2YO, Capital Gain & 2019 stakes winner Morton’s Fork etc.).

Other close relations include multiple North American stakes winners Raylene and Princess Janie.
