Third Inglis Classic Win for Triple Crown Syndications
The red and white colours of Triple Crown Syndications were carried to victory by Peggy Jean (Myboycharlie (IRE) ex Lady of Love) and Kerrin McEvoy in the $250,000 Restricted Listed Inglis Classic race for two-year-olds at Randwick on Saturday.
A $46,000 purchase by Chris and Michael Ward from the draft of Torryburn Stud at the 2013 Inglis Sydney Classic Yearling Sale Summer Book, Peggy Jean claimed the boutique syndication company’s third Inglis Classic win in just the last seven years, following success in the race with Cavalry Rose in 2012 and Miss Independent in 2008.
From only two race starts Peggy Jean has won $181,425 in prizemoney, $20,000 BOBS Bonus, and has also acquired black type (resulting in significant value as a future broodmare), providing not only a lucrative return for her Triple Crown owners, but experiences of a lifetime.
The Gerald Ryan trained daughter of Myboycharlie (IRE) ran a promising second to the highly rated Gai Waterhouse trained filly, Nayeli, on debut over the unsuited 1000m distance. She then showed solid improvement from this run on Saturday, taking on the colts in what was a much tougher assignment. Peggy Jean, cleverly named after Charlie Brown’s girlfriend, stormed home impressively to defeat Group 3 winner Boomwaa and take out the rich Inglis incentive race.

“Classic is a great sale for us and the race has been very kind to us with three wins in seven years. We do target this race as soon as we buy them,” said Michael Ward of Triple Crown Syndications.
“Last year we bought four lots. Two of them were in the race today, one is in Melbourne and the other is an out and out stayer. We are thrilled with today’s result”, Ward added.
Peggy Jean is the first foal from Lady of Love, who hails from the family of Group 1 winners Lady Jackeo and Mrs Onasis.
She is the second Australian stakes-winner for Vinery Stud’s Myboycharlie, alongside Group 2 Winner Charlie Boy, a fellow Triple Crown Syndications runner.
The Ward brothers already have their sights firmly set on the 2015 Inglis Classic race with the Myboycharlie ex Elvish colt purchased from the first day of the Inglis Classic Sale Summer Book at Newmarket yesterday.

“The boys do a really great job, they are the first syndication company on the complex each day, and put a lot of time and effort into looking at the horses” Inglis Director Jonathan D’Arcy commented.
“Their record is second to none, they are getting very good results.”
