Triple Crown trio target Hawkesbury riches

An exciting Saturday beckons at Hawkesbury’s stand-alone city meeting this weekend, where the Triple Crown team are preparing to saddle up three chances in the feature races on the card.

Group 2 winner REELEM IN RUBY has the tricky task of giving weight away to all her rivals in the Group 3 Hawkesbury Crown (1300m), though she will be reunited with Tim Clark, the man who guided her to a memorable victory in the Hot Danish Stakes at Rosehill in 2019.

Ruby will be joined in Saturday’s $175,000 contest by her Triple Crown stablemate MISTEED, who is seeking some valuable black-type before going under the hammer at the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale next month.

A multiple city winner, Misteed can count herself unlucky not to be stakes-placed already, having endured a luckless run when fourth, beaten 0.6L, in the Listed Nudgee Stakes up in Queensland. She will be out to better her ninth-place finish in last year’s renewal of the Hawkesbury Crown.

After the mares do battle in Race 5, all eyes will turn to EXOBOOM in the Group 3 Hawkesbury Guineas – and not just because he’s likely to dwarf his opposition!

The giant son of Exosphere created a huge impression in his two space-job wins last preparation, though he will need to improve plenty from his first-up run at this track if he is to trouble what looks to be a vintage field for the $200,000 contest.

Being such a gross horse, he is expected to do just that, and we can’t wait to see what the rest of the preparation holds in store for this hugely promising individual.

Best of luck to the team at Snowden Racing and all our owners in Saturday’s runners!
