Last week is was Diablo Bolt powering home to win for Triple Crown and their team of owners. This week it was the well-named Zousain Bolt who outsprinted his rivals to score at Wyong in the red Triple Crown silks.
The 2yo son of Widden Stud’s Zousain was having just his third career start and after putting in an impressive run a fortnight ago, where he ran second to the talented Yorkshire, you could say the writing was on the wall. Jockey Andrew Adkins, who has been in the saddle for all three of Zousain Bolt’s starts, took the colt back from the wide barrier draw before settling in a mid-field position throughout the run. Andrew was forced to get going early and ultimately take the long way home and circle the field. Adkins has a lot of time for Zousain Bolt and was very pleased to see him take another step forward, although he still has plenty to learn.
“He’s almost too relaxed although he did everything right today and just got a little bit lost when he got to the front,” said Adkins.
“He still has a lot to learn and will take a lot of confidence out of today.”
Zousain Bolt was a Triple Crown purchase from the Edinglassie Thoroughbreds draft at the 2023 Magic Millions.
